              Your Rights: Credit Reporting

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires each of the nationwide consumer reporting companies — Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion — to provide you with a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every 12 months. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, has prepared a brochure, Your Access to Free Credit Reports, explaining your rights under the FCRA and how to order a free annual credit report. www.annualcreditreport.com

Commission also protects consumer privacy under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. Use the topic links on the left to read more about our efforts in each of these areas, including what we've learned, and what you can do to protect the privacy of your personal information.

15 U.S.C. §§ 41-58, as amended.
Section 5 of the FTC Act prohibits unfair or deceptive acts or practices in the marketplace.
